Today we have a long-time client, Linda with us. Read on to learn more about Linda, her story...her inspiration...and a little motivation to take that first step.
Q: What is your favorite inspirational quote?
“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” - Henry Ford
Q: What are your personal health and fitness goals?
Decades ago, my health and fitness goals centered around weight loss and fitting into a smaller size. But as I’ve aged, the realization has hit home that I have to focus on my fitness so that I can continue to live my life to the fullest.
Q: What ONE thing keeps you most focused and motivated to continue to work hard to reach your goals? Two things. 1. I do not want to become a burden to my daughters as I get older. I am determined to stay as independent as I can for as long as I can. 2. My mom, who lived to be almost 99 years old, used to lament that she missed taking baths because she couldn’t get into or out of the bathtub. I love taking baths - so when I am tempted to complain about doing squats, I recall my mom’s regrets and push harder.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started with us? Because I don’t live in the Columbus area, I started with FabYOUlous Fitness by using their Trainerize app, where my trainer wrote up workouts for me and I did them on my own schedule. When Covid hit and Fab Fit was forced to start online training via ZOOM, that was a true blessing to me, because then I was able to participate in the online small group training and classes. When I do get to Columbus, I make it a priority to get to the studio, but otherwise, I do anywhere from 4 to 6 sessions a week online.
Q: How has FabYOUlous Fitness made a difference in your life? I am in my mid-70’s. Scheduling my workouts a week at a time and putting them on my calendar is the kind of accountability I need to keep pushing myself to get those workouts in. Because of that, I am able to keep up an active and busy lifestyle.
Q: What kinds of milestones have you accomplished and what specific results have you achieved so far? About 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with osteopenia. After years of strength training, my most recent bone density test now shows normal bone density - so I was able to reverse the loss of bone density.
Q: What is your “word” of the year?! Tenacity
Q: What made you decide to want to join FabYOUlous Fitness? I love the variety of the offerings - from circuit training to fitness classes like Mobility, Cardio / Strength, and Slow Flow Yoga. I also wanted the accountability - if I’ve signed up, I need to show up.
Q: What kinds of results have you achieved so far? Over time, I’ve noticed increased strength in all areas of my body, along with better balance and mobility.
Q: What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals? Think about yourself a year from now, and 5 years from now. Record your long term goals and make a plan to take the daily and weekly small, consistent steps that will continue to move you towards those goals. And then invest in yourself - with the time, effort, and financial commitment that you need to keep up that consistency.
