Resolutions? Why I believe there’s a better way:
Many people who start a new exercise program all “gung ho” on January 1st tend to let it lapse. In fact, approximately 80% of those with exercise resolutions who crowd the gyms on January 1st are back home by mid-February.
Are you really going to “live it up” for the next 5 weeks and then “punish” yourself come January 1st? What would you say if someone close to you said they wanted to throw caution to the wind and run wild for the next 5 weeks, but then they’d get back in line starting January 1st? Would you be on board with that?
Why wait until Jan 1st? <—I’m not asking this as a sales tactic - I’m asking because I really want you to ask yourself WHY. You don’t have to share your WHY with me, but I’d love it if you would. When you answer your WHY, dig deep. Find the underlying reason. Peel back the layers. When you do, I think you will find that your reason is likely what’s holding you back on many levels. Hint: it’s not “I don’t have time” or “I have family in town” or “I’ll be traveling”. Those are the lies that you are telling yourself to make it easier to put off the inevitable, and those lies can cover up the real reason - the one that’s hard to admit to yourself.
When you find your reason WHY you can do one of two things…
Bury it and go on about your life. Continue fighting the same battles and doing the same things and getting the same unsatisfactory results.
Take action NOW and break the pattern. Taking small steps on a consistent basis will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. One step. One day. One workout. Just one.
Which one are you going to choose?
