"I'm a wife, mother of 6, and I have a female based bodywork practice. I'm also a crocheter and turtle lover.
As many women do, I got lost in caretaking for everyone around me. About a year ago I realized I wasn't on the list of people I care for anymore, and that was creating a real problem. I decided to take my own advice, and started practicing what I preach. I started having my own regular bodywork, started a mindfulness practice, and decided to stop ignoring my perimenopausal body.
After about 20 years of trying everything and measuring my success by my bathroom scale, I decided to shift my focus to how I feel in my body. In the beginning I worked with a functional medicine practitioner to rehab my gut and hormone health who strongly suggested I add strength training, not only for my muscles and bones, but for the whole chain of health benefits that it triggers. That started my search for the least scary gym. I didn’t want a trainer focused on making me a power lifter, or getting me to 0% body fat. I just wanted someone to support me while I figure out what my body is capable of. What I found was FabYOUlous Fitness, one that’s completely in alignment with my own business values. A place that focuses on fitness and strength training, but cares about women as a whole. Somewhere safe and supportive to explore new activities, and connect with other likeminded women. During my year here I’ve learned that I’m capable of a lot more than I’d ever thought! I now actually enjoy seeing if I can lift heavier weights, my knee and shoulder have stopped complaining, and I have met some truly amazing women. My new found sense of strength and what I’m capable of has also made it easier to continue to care for those around me. I'm so grateful to be here and I love my time with you ladies!"
