Client Spotlight: Joni

There’s a moment many women reach when they realize they’re done just surviving—and ready to feel like themselves again. For Joni, that moment came after years of putting everyone else first, navigating exhaustion, and slowly losing touch with the woman she knew herself to be.
In this Client Spotlight, Joni shares her honest journey through burnout, self-discovery, and what it felt like to finally walk into a space where she felt seen, supported, and welcomed exactly as she was. Her story is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to come back to yourself—and that the right community can make all the difference.
Here’s Joni, in her own words, on finding her way back through FabYOUlous Fitness, a women-only gym.
"Hi! I'm Joni. A little about me;
I have been married for 25 years to my husband, Derric. We have 2 children and 2 golden retrievers.
My journey has been a "normal' one. I was always busy with the kids, house, and life. 2020 arrived, and everything changed; everything stopped. I was no longer needed with the kids' activities or having friends over, as I was fearful of what I was bringing home. I still had to work outside the house, in healthcare.
With that, my mental health started to decline, and I no longer wanted to do anything. I was exhausted. I sat and ate due to my fears, anger, and resentment. Looking back, it was survival mode. Fast forward to 2025, my kids have both graduated, thriving at their jobs and college, and I woke up. I was tired of being tired and stuck. It was time for me to become me again. I lost her in 2020, not sure when, but I am coming back to life.
I reached out to Kim about 2023, and I was not in a place to join or even sit down with her to talk. I knew I was ready in 2025. I had to find myself again. I have been coming to FabYOUlous Fitness since July. What a difference in me. I am happier, my self-confidence is slowly coming back, and laughter feels real again.
As a woman, it is hard to find a place to belong. We walk in, and automatically think the looks and whispers are about us; most of the time, they are not.
At FabYOUlous Fitness, you walk in, and they know your name and have a smile waiting for you. Your mood changes when you walk in the door. What a support system, not just with fitness but in real life outside the gym.
This has been one of the biggest steps I have taken for myself. I can't wait to see what my life will look like in the next 6 months. I am ready for the challenge."
