Client Spotlight: From Dance to Strength – Meet Shelly!
After years of high-intensity dance fitness, Shelly found herself battling pain, low energy, and injuries as she entered her 50s and navigated menopause. Strength training wasn’t something she ever imagined enjoying—until she found FabYOUlous Fitness. Now, not only has she regained mobility and strength, she’s crushing travel goals and saying yes to adventures she once thought were out of reach. Her journey is a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to redefine what strength looks like. 💪🌍

"I began my journey with FabYOUlous Fitness in June 2023 after many years of Zumba/Hip Hop fitness. After turning 50 and going through menopause, my body was not responding very well with high intensity cardio although my mind and spirit still loved the dancing and music; I was constantly in pain and low energy.  I never thought I would enjoy anything related to strength training as dance was the only thing that ever motivated me to stick with fitness.

However, FabYOUlous Fitness ended up being the perfect change to my routine as I have also experienced various injuries the last few years. For the past year I’ve had ongoing neck and shoulder issues due to previously diagnosed degeneration as well as an injury where, at times, it was so intense I had extreme dizziness/vertigo, pain, headaches, etc. However, with the help of physical therapy and modifications from the trainers, I have eliminated all of the side effects and my range of motion is greatly improved! I am now able to begin overhead exercises as well. The trainers are so patient and helpful in providing alternative movements, especially as many other members have injury or challenges as well. There’s never pressure to do something that is painful or uncomfortable, which I sincerely appreciate. All the trainers and members are so supportive and non-judgmental.

My mobility has improved and I’m looking forward to increasing my strength even more. Although I still love dance, my body is so much stronger now, which allows me to keep up with daily activities better as well as my ambitious travel goals. Last October I traveled on a river cruise through Switzerland, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. I have never walked so much in my life (like 8-10 miles per day through various terrain, inclines, etc.) and I know it wouldn’t have been possible without FabYOUlous Fitness. This August I’m heading out on another adventure on a cruise to Alaska where I will be challenging myself some more and really going out of my comfort zone by doing things I’ve never done (dog sledding, kayaking, and canoeing). Who is this person, lol?! I don’t want the adventures to end, so thank you FabYOUlous Fitness for giving me and other women an inspiring and welcoming place to gain strength and friendship."
